Gandhara Art House is Pakistan’s first premium online art platform centered on Gandhara art, dedicated to seamlessly blending the millennium-old Buddhist artistic heritage with contemporary aesthetics. Guided by the core philosophy of "Artistic Dialogue Across Time," we curate the most iconic traditional miniature paintings, Buddha statue reproductions, and modern fusion artworks, offering global collectors a cultural collecting experience that bridges history and the present.
Gandhara art emerged during the Kushan Empire (1st–6th century CE), with its core region spanning present-day northwestern Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan. As a cultural hub of the ancient Silk Road, Gandhara art innovatively fused Greek sculptural realism, Indian Buddhist spirituality, and Persian decorative opulence, giving birth to the unique aesthetic system of "Greco-Buddhist art." From the Jetavahana Monastery Donation relief in the Peshawar Museum to the standing Buddha statues unearthed in Taxila, these works exemplify the pinnacle of Buddhist art history through their delicate schist carvings, fluid drapery, and idealized figure modeling.
Every artwork selected by Gandhara Art House is recreated by Pakistani artisans using traditional techniques, with strict adherence to ancient methods in both material sourcing and creation: schist carvers inherit generationally transmitted chiseling skills from Gandhara craftsmen; miniature painters restore mural colors using mineral pigments; and contemporary artists digitally reconstruct historical relics like Kanishka’s Great Stupa. We are not just an art marketplace but also guardians of Gandhara culture—1% of every transaction supports digital preservation projects for Pakistani archaeological sites, such as Harvard University’s "Digital Gandhara" initiative to 3D-reconstruct the Hadda Monastery ruins.
Mission and Vision
Our mission is to connect civilizations through art, enabling Gandhara art to transcend geographical and religious boundaries as a globally shared cultural heritage. We believe every artwork is a slice of history: the Hellenized Buddha’s face tells tales of civilizational exchange; geometric motifs from the Indus Valley civilization hide codes of ancient cosmologies; and gilded Kushan pagodas witness the interplay of faith and power. In the future, we will leverage innovative formats like online virtual galleries and live artist workshops to bring Gandhara art into modern life in more vivid ways.

Team Background
Gandhara Art House is co-founded by Pakistani cultural heritage conservation experts and an international e-commerce team. Co-founder Ali Khan has participated in UNESCO’s Gandhara heritage restoration projects, while Lead Designer Mariam Abbas, a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, has her works—blending Gandhara motifs with modern interior design—collected by the V&A Museum as a case study in Asian contemporary design.
Social Responsibility
We actively promote the "Art Empowerment Community" program:
Providing creative training and sales channels for female artists in Peshawar to advance gender equality.
Collaborating with local schools on "Gandhara Art in Schools," inspiring teenagers’ interest in indigenous culture through activities like traditional painting and digital art workshops.
Gandhara Art House is more than an e-commerce platform; it is a window into ancient civilizations. We invite you to join this artistic journey across time, allowing the wisdom and beauty of Gandhara to rejuvenate in the contemporary era.
